Last Day of ESY 2015 Ends With Plenty Of Summer Fun

Whoo Hoo!!  The last day of summer school is here!!  The 4th Grade is officially over!
The weather was less than ideal when we woke up, it had rained through the night.  By 9:00 it was clearing so I texted Bobby's teacher to say that I was going to pick him up early and take him to adaptive swimming at the local pool!!!  What a fun way to spend the last day of school....at the pool! Of course, if you know me at all, I had to take some pictures before we left the classroom.
Bobby was working on typing and reading when I arrived....
Ms. Deb, Ms. Deb, Ms. Deb.......Bobby's morning mantra that he repeats every morning before school....yes, Bobby you get to go see Ms. Deb today!!!

A good-bye peck on the cheek to his beloved Ms. Deb before we leave!!!  Oh, and his buddy Sonny had to say good-bye too!!
Before we left, I received his classroom as well as his speech therapy report cards.  It's amazing to read the comments, "Bobby came to each session ready to work.  He listened and was easily redirected to the activity. Bobby was always a joy to work with."  Wow, how much work it took to get to this point!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I can't really even express just how much work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  "Bobby did an awesome job this summer.  He worked hard. Way to go Bobby on a job well done."  The angels are singing in my ears!!!!!
One last stop at his cubby to get his backpack and we were off to the local public pool for adaptive swimming.
Bobby and one of his peeps from school and therapy were the only kids there!  They had the pool to themselves.....so fun.  It was even made better when Coach got in the water with them and the boys took turns getting her attention.  They had the BEST time, especially when the throwing began.  No, not Bobby, but his buddy.  However, Bobby did a great job counting down for him.....ready, set, GO!
We ran home for a lunch break and to relax for a bit before we headed out to our next stop, swimming at Stepping Stones.  We had the pool all to ourselves for a while.  Man, what a hot summer day, perfect for all day swimming!
Then a little boy showed up that Bobby had seen one other time at the pool, and then.......they began playing together.  Laughing. Jumping in.  Having fun together!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These boys made two autism moms happy today!!!
 So fun!!!!

Now at home resting for a little, I'm sure that there will be some family swimming this evening. It's a beautiful summer day!

We have something super exciting planned for Bobby over the next two weeks before school starts...stayed tuned!!!!

Super Duper Fun Day

A day made in special needs kid's heaven!!  Swimming, more swimming, jumping and sliding!! Bobby definitely couldn't have asked for more!

First on the agenda, adaptive swimming at Krepps Pool.  The weather this June has been.....awful! Rain, rain go away and come back, well through the night while we sleep is fine, but Bobby is an outdoor kid and this non-stop rain is putting a major drain on all of his fun.  We were very excited when the forecast wasn't calling for rain until evening, however the temps weren't too great.  We were off to the pool anyway, a little cool weather isn't stopping our fun!!

Bobby got into the pool the best way....off of the diving board.  Boy was that water cold!!!  His sensory issues where he could play in ice cold water all day without batting an eye, are becoming much more regulated the older that he gets.  He doesn't like the cold water like he used to and didn't stay in the water that much.

He spent much more time in the kiddie area, the water was a little warmer over here!!

Then he did something he's never done.....went over to the pool bag and got his beach towel out and started drying off....true sign that he was indeed cold!!
He got back in the water and played a while longer.  We left and ran home for a quick lunch before going for the second swim fun of the day.  This time we went to Stepping Stones and met up with some friends.  The thing about this wonderful pool.....the water is heated!!!  The kids got in and didn't come back out for almost a couple of hours.  Pretty sure this pool is spoiling Mr. Bobby!!!!
We went home after swimming and rested for a while before we got ready for part 3 of our day, celebrating Sonny's birthday!!  We met up with Bobby's buddy, Sonny, at the Flight Trampoline Park for their special needs jump hour.  Bobby was extremely excited when we arrived at our destination. The rain arrived during our drive to Pittsburgh, thankfully we were doing indoor activities.  Bobby was ready to JUMP!!

Yay, Sonny and Joey arrived, let the fun begin!!!  Funny thing, quite a few other people arrived too.  The rain brought out a much larger special needs crowd than was there the last time we visited, still much less crowded than their regular sessions.
Sonny began playing with a little girl, about 3 years old, while we were there.  They were playing chase and having fun.  Bobby moved from place to place jumping.  Joey, well I didn't see much of Joey, he was off having major jumping fun!!

Bobby was beginning to show signs of being tired by the end of the hour!!
Time to go back out in the rain and head across the parking lot to our last destination....Chuck E. Cheese, one of Sonny's favorite places!!  Bobby has never been before and he could not wait to get into the tube slide!!

Bobby was having a great time in the tubes and went down the twisty slide many times. Then I spotted Chuck E. Cheese and wanted to get Sonny's picture with his favorite mouse.  Sonny was talking to the mouse and said, "Chuck E., I met a girl!"  Well Shelly, Sonny's mom, and I started laughing.  He failed to tell the mouse that it was a 3 year old!!!  LOL!!!
I finally looked over at the slide and didn't see Bobby!!  I quickly scan the room, and.....oh no!!  He is sitting on the skee ball game!!!  It is like a small bowling alley where you throw a small ball up the small lane with your hand and I guess that Bobby wanted to go down that "slide."  "Dude, get down from there!!  It's not a slide."  After I gathered him up, I couldn't stop laughing!!  OH BOBBY!! Time to find a new activity.
He started climbing into a couple of rides, so we found a couple that bigger kids could ride too.
He loved this, but unfortunately it was out of order, but he was happy just sitting there.
Then we found a truck. After he got in, Shelly put a couple of tokens in the ride and his reaction was priceless!!!
As the ride started to move, he help on with a death grip like he was being taken into the abyss!!  It was hysterical!!  The front end of the truck went up into the air and he had true fear in his face.  This kid who will do daredevil actions all day long was scared to death on this kiddie truck ride!!  OH MY! He was out of the truck as soon as the ride stopped!!
Time to walk around and look at some games.  He has no desire to play, he just likes all of the lights.
Posing with Chuck E. Cheese but refusing to look at Mom!
This is when I knew that it was time to go..........
A worn out boy!  Time to go back out into the rain and drive home.  We actually got a to-go box and took our food home to eat.  He was just to excited to sit down at the table and eat.  Such a super, duper fun day!!  Now how is he going to react to such a boring day today with nothing on the schedule except for his ABA therapy??!!!

Happy 11th Birthday Sonny!!!
