"Sandy" Snow Day Fun

Hurricane Sandy left us with a snow day from school today.  Thankfully our part of the state got much less weather destruction that predicted.  We woke up to a snow free lawn, but it quickly coated throughout the morning.  Other parts of our county did get the snow, so NO SCHOOL!!  What to do, what to do??!!??

Bobby went straight to the window when he got out of bed and said "snope, snope."  It just makes me wonder, how does he get this word right every season, but misses words that we work on in therapy and school every day.  I guess it is all about what he likes the most.  Before lunch time I bundled us both and out we went to play in the snope.  He was a happy boy!

He ventured down around his swing set and at one point even went into the fort to get out of the snow...

Come on Bobby, it's time to go inside!!  Mommy's cold!!!  Hummm, I don't think that he cares!!!

I finally got him to come in for lunch.  Daddy came home from work early and after we ate he set up something special for Bobby.  He picked up a train set for Bobby for Christmas.  We know that getting everything on Christmas morning is not important to Bobby.  In fact, it is too overwhelming.  So, this year we are going to give him gifts differently.  It just seemed like a perfect time to give him a gift...

Looks like it is a hit!!!

Daddy took him outside once more for the day and they rode the Rhino.  Ahh, I hope that we don't have many snow days this year!!!

A Halloween Miracle

Halloween is not big on Bobby's priority list.  In fact, every year we seem to celebrate less and less.  He got two costumes to choose from this year from the Stepping Stones costume giveaway and he chose...NEITHER!!!  He put one on for 20 seconds before he took it off.  Alright Bobby, Mommy gets it, no costume!!  I did get him a cute (rather, SCARY, ohhhhhhhh) shirt to be Bobby's costume for school...
He's so scarrrrrrrrry!!!!!!!!!

We attempted to go to the PlayWorks special needs Halloween party.  Bobby was not in to it in the least!!!  He ran right through the playroom and stayed in the back room and looked out the window...
Obviously the party wasn't the Halloween miracle, so we left.
When we got home I had to do it, one of my least favorite things; however, it has been such a big struggle every morning when we are getting ready for school.  I had to cut off Bobby's beautiful hair.  I love it the length that it was in the previous picture.  He doesn't love getting it washed (takes too much water to rinse it out), he won't let me wet it down in the morning, so we have to wash it every morning before school.  He also hates having it combed.  This wasn't the big miracle either.  I buzzed it, but he wouldn't let me go back over it and get the little stragglers.  Oh well, my cold was getting worse and I really didn't care.

I had some pumpkins at home in my fall decorations, so I brought one inside so that we could carve it into a Jack 'O Lantern.
Smells good!
Giving the pumpkin a kiss.
Glad that Mommy got all of the goo out of there.
I decided to take Bob's drill and make some holes instead of carving a face.  Yeah, my I could have cared less by this point, I just wanted to lay on the couch and rest from my crazy cold.

I got up and made some dinner.  Bobby had already had his dinner by the time that Bob and I ate.  So,   I made our plates and we sat in front of the TV to eat our dinner since I didn't feel well.  Yes, this is where the Halloween miracle happened.  Bobby came over and stood by me, reached down and picked up a green bean off of my plate and ate it like it was no big deal.  He reached down got two more and ate those, reached down got a few more and ate those.  Bob and I sat there literally with out mouths open while Bobby ate some more green beans.  I went to the kitchen and put some green beans on Bobby's plate...
After he finished the one's on his plate, he got the bowl and ate some more.  Now, you have to understand that Bobby does not eat food that is not hard and crunchy with the exception of bread.  He has not eaten a vegetable in at least 4 years.  We were SPEECHLESS and JUMPING FOR JOY!!!!!  Hopefully he will eat them again (I stopped on my way home and bought some more!!).  But in Bobby's World, this is truly a Halloween miracle!!!!!!!

Autumn Family Fun

When Bob got home from work today, we all went outside to play in the leaves.  Here are my favorite pictures from the family fun!!
Our favorite little monkey!!

Crop circles...
Hope that the aliens haven't landed!!!

Zoi was in on the family fun too...

All of the people (yes, Zoi gets people status) that I love the most....
We have a couple of trees left that still have all of their beautiful leaves...

But looking this direction as the sun sets, you can see that winter isn't far behind....

Random Ramblings

Bobby has discovered one of the greater joys of cold weather mornings...laying by the furnace when the hot air is blowing into the air.  One day he will figure out how it can be even better...cover yourself with a blanket and keep all of the warm air for yourself.

Who is this looking at a toy catalogue??  Actually Bobby has looked at this page on two different occasions...looks like I need to put a call into Santa!!!! (I have my phone, internet, tv bills on the table-time to pick a new plan.  If anyone wants to come over and do this chore for me, be my guest!!)
The sky was awfully pink (and beautiful) this morning.
Zoi hanging out in the front yard just watching the leaves change colors...
The best spot to take pictures of the beautiful autumn leaves just happens to be on my front porch...

The view is even better when I look down...
We have been spending HOURS in the trampoline lately...
Time for the animals to come out and get some food before the cold weather comes...
This guy better stay hidden, after all Thanksgiving isn't too far away...
Happy 3rd week of October!  Let's go Mountaineers!!
