8th Birthday Party

This year I went back and forth many, many times on how to celebrate Bobby's birthday.  For me, I would love to have a big party and invite all of our family and friends.  For Bobby, he seems to prefer not to have crowds of people around.  By Wednesday, I finally decided that I would invite Sonny and Joey over to help celebrate (sorry for the late invitation boys, glad that your social calendar wasn't already booked!!).
The boys started off playing on the playground and jumping in the trampoline, but I didn't have my camera handy.  Bobby went off and played in his moon sand mixture (which helps calm him when feeling stressed, so play away Bobby!!)
Sonny and Joey alternated between "Rhino Rides With Bob" and sandbox play...
Finally!!  Time to go inside for dinner, the most important blowing out of the birthday candles and presents!!

We had pepperoni rolls for Bobby, pizza for Sonny, hot dogs and chips for the rest of us.  Autism families will totally understand this last sentence!!  Yes Bobby, you finally get to "blow out the candles, blow."  (Bobby has been saying this statement ALL day).
I moved the cake into the dining room, which was decorated, for better pictures.  Of course, we had to blow the candles out again.  Sonny and Joey helped the second time.
The boys were ready to go back outside and play.  Bobby got back into the flour mixture and needed washed off.  I had him get into the swimming pool to wash off.  Bobby likes cold water and has no problem getting into the pool this time of year.  Of course Sonny and Joey wanted to go swimming too, but I honestly didn't think that they would get in when they stuck their feet into the cold, cold water.  However...
They all got in and had major swimming fun!!  Sonny was the first to get out...
Joey was the biggest surprise of the party.  He became a daredevil and finally jumped into the pool.  He   jumped once and didn't stop!!!  "Take my picture!!"
Excuse all of the underwear shots!!
Since it was getting cold outside and the boys were freezing from swimming, Daddy got out the firepit and built a fire.
They played on the swingset and in the trampoline a little while longer and the party wrapped up.  It was almost 8:30 when Shelly took the boys home and Joey, who usually is kicking and screaming when it is time to go because he doesn't want to leave, got right into the car (pretty sure he fell asleep on the ride home).  Bob commented last night that this was Bobby's best birthday party ever.  Bobby wasn't overwhelmed and didn't try to escape from everyone and  I wasn't stressed out from having a big party. A good time was had by all!!  Since today is actually Bobby's birthday, there may be a trip to the golden arches in Bobby's near future.

Just Another Day In Paradise

Nothing new or exciting going on in Bobby's World.  The weather cooled down this week so we haven't been in the pool.  Forecast is warmer for this week, so hopefully the water will warm up for next weekend which just happens to be Bobby's 8th birthday weekend!!!  Can't even believe my baby will be 8 next week.  Thought that I would share some photos from the past week...
Some rain puddle fun!!!
Zoi dug a huge hole in the ground where she loves to lay (under a shady tree) and keep cool.
We have a birds nest complete with a mamma bird...
Hope that you can make out her eye!!
Going on a safari??  No, just helping Dad move a table.
Mom, Lets Goooo!!!!
Bobby dressed himself again!!  Shirt on inside out and backwards along with Mommy's capri pants!!
No, Bobby didn't just get out of the coal mines, he is playing in dirt!!
A few years ago Bob dug up some beautiful oranges bushes that were growing on our back hill because they had died.  Funny thing, this year the bushes are growing back on the hill, but they are part pink and part yellow.  Very weird, but very pretty.
Well, it's just Bobby and me today on this beautiful Saturday.  Daddy is working.  Bobby is already in his swim gear and repeating his mantra, "swimming, swimming, swimming."  He doesn't care that it is only 10:00 am and 64 degrees outside.  So I am absolutely sure that he will be in the pool today.

I hope that all of my Mom friends have a wonderful Mother's Day tomorrow!!!!!

The Best Day Of The Year

In Bobby's World, the best day of the year is not Christmas, his birthday or even the last day of school (however, it is up there), it is the day Daddy finally opens the gate to the pool and lets Bobby jump on in!!
Bob started plumbing the pump and solar heater last week and the weather has been close to 90 all week, so Bobby got to get in yesterday afternoon.  The water still isn't clear but our new filter came  today.  Bobby doesn't care that he can't see his feet, he is just super happy to be in the pool.
After we got home from school today Bobby went upstairs and put on boxer shorts, came down and said "swimming."  I took him out to the pool and we came back inside almost 2 1/2 hours later!!
The beautiful view from our pool deck.

He started doing things in the pool already this year that he has never done before.  He laid over the      small boogie board and kicked all of the way around the pool (I was very excited).  He swam a few strokes and has been floating on his back.  But the funniest new thing...he goes to the pump discharge (where the water is shooting in), puts the back of his head up to it and finally kicks his feet up to float and the water current moves him forward until he gets water over his face and then he jumps up.
Cracks me up!!!
It is the beginning of the best time of the year in Bobby's World.  I'm sure that you will get sick of seeing swimming pictures.  If you need us in the evening after school, check the pool, I'm sure you'll find us there!!
