Snow Day Sledding Fun

Snow Storm "Saturn" was the major story on the news for a few days.  When we woke up Wednesday morning, we had received the lowest end of the predicted snow storm totals.  Enough heavy, wet snow to cancel school for the day but not cause us any damage or major cleanup issues.  The boys got ready and went outside to plow the roads.  Boy was Bobby excited to get to go outside and "ride Rhino" instead of getting his school clothes on and going to school!!

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on who you talk to....the boys didn't have to plow all day long.  Once was enough...
The mid 30 temps kept the roads clean once the snow was removed.  Zoi was super happy go outside and play too...

After lunch we bundled up and went back outside to play.  We got out Bobby's sled that Santa brought on Christmas 2011 which has been hanging lonely in the garage for over a year.  Bobby used to enjoy sledding, but a few years ago we had a little sledding accident that halted Bobby's sledding fun.  Here's a video of pre-accident sledding (sorry about my crazy laughing)...
A couple of days after we shot this video I took Bobby out sledding while Daddy was at work.  I was behind him and pushed him down the hill, exactly where Daddy is standing in the video and Bobby started down the hill.  He some how took a hard left when he was half way down the hill and went over our little wall and got stuck in between the wall and one of our utility boxes.  His face had a bruise on it that lasted for weeks and he now actually has a dimple in that spot on his face that he did not have prior.  Bobby's bruise was visible in the Christmas pictures taken that year...

Following the accident Bobby refused to get back into the sled for the remainder of the winter.  Over the past few winters, we have tried unsuccessfully to get Bobby back into the sled.  He would sit in it and soon as we pushed him he would jump out.  For some reason lately he has enjoyed watching the previous video of himself sled ridding over and over and over on the computer.  So when we got the sled out yesterday, he sat right down and didn't jump out when Daddy pushed.

Daddy and I were both very nervous that Bobby was just going to fly down the hill because the snow was so wet, but Bobby didn't go far at all.  I was able to switch my camera over from video to picture and snap some quick pics.  We laughed when we looked at the pictures because it looks like he is sledding down the hill while his hands are in the air, when in fact he is just sitting there.

The actual reason that his arms are up in the air is not because he is enjoying a roller coaster type ride, but because he is throwing snow up in the air over his head!!  Just remember, pictures can be deceiving!!!!  LOL!!!!

Daddy to the rescue to give a push...

Since I got some great shots on the first run, I put my camera down and Daddy and I helped Bobby sled ride.  He had 5 successful runs before he ventured off to something else.  Sled ridding success!!!  Score Smith family!!!!
Spending much more time throwing snow over his head.

 Yum-O!  Snow sure is tasty....

Humm....wonder what all of the kids are doing in school today that live where it didn't snow??!!...
Mommy started making a snowman but then got bored, so I think I'll play with this big snowball...

Man, I'm worn out and soaking wet.  Time to go inside to dry off and get a snack!!
