We are finally getting around to upgrading our Dish TV package to an HD package. I made the arrangements the other evening online and the technician is coming out Friday morning to install our new receiver and whatever else goes along with this process. Easy peasy...something else checked off of our to do list.
Then yesterday afternoon it hit me.....NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! All of Bobby's tv shows are on our current DVR and they are going to take it out and put in a new one.....right before Christmas vacation when Bobby is going to be home for almost two weeks. I AM THE WORST MOTHER IN THE WORLD!!!!! I don't have to explain the horror of this misstep to my fellow autism moms.
This leads me to a Bobby imposed rule of life in Bobby's World. Jack's Big Music Show is the BEST show EVER in the history of the world. There is also a rule within this rule....ONLY SEASON 1 IS ACCEPTABLE!!!! Please do not waste Mr. Bobby's time with trying to get him to watch season 2, because it is like poison to his eyes!!! Why would anyone want to watch Steve from Blue's Clues as a bald adult man singing about groundhogs while wearing a brown outfit and groundhog ears???!!!! No, season 2 is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!
Season 1 however is just the pinnacle of great television to Bobby. The way that Dancy Nancy sings in her poodle shirt and says "yippee" when you say "dance party." The way the bongo bird plays the bongos with his nose. The way that his best friends Jack, Mary and Mel the Dog play marching band and the sorrow you feel for them when it starts to rain outside and they can't go march. They way that Sheldon the Grumpy Squirrel learns to love music. PURE PERFECTION OF TELEVISION.
Yes, the episodes of season 1 of Jack's Big Music Show are all nicely stored on our DVR. We have watched them so many times that I couldn't even begin to guess how many. These episodes have helped calm Bobby in the middle of a meltdown, helped him fall asleep when he is restless, kept him company and more important quiet in the middle of the night when he is wide awake yet Mommy and Daddy still need to sleep and helped him veg out for a half hour after school.
Normally it would be no big deal to just record them again on Nick Jr., however, Jack and Friends are not on the current rotation of Nick Jr. programming, and who knows if they will be on the next. The other shows that we have recorded are not really a big deal. We have multiple Elmo's World movies on our VUDU account. Blue's Clues, Dora, Diego, Wonder Pets are all still currently on Nick Jr and I can record some new episodes.
Bobby doesn't need Jack's Big Music Show Season 1 to survive, he would get over it, but......it makes Mommy and Daddy's life much easier.
We now have a solution......we are going to cancel out Netflix subscription, they lost all of their Nick Jr. selections months ago and we are going to pick up Amazon Prime. We will have to pay an additional $3.99 for season 1 of Jack's Big Music Show, but you just don't understand the happy dance that I did when I found it available. It will be $3.99 very well spent!!!! Bobby's Roku that he is getting for Christmas will be opened tomorrow and set up for his upstairs viewing pleasure and Bobby's World will continue with no interruption from our TV upgrade.
Crisis averted!!!! Yippee!!
