One of the positives of doing a blog about Bobby is that it forces me to include him in many more things than I did previously so that I have something to blog about. I got the ingredients ready, called Bobby to the kitchen and had him help me get the rice pudding together...
He seems to enjoy helping, so I have had him help much more often.
O Bobby!! You think that I would be prepared that he is going to stick his fingers into everything!
Trying to get out the very last drop.
Here, let Mommy help.
I know why they use food stylists for photos and tv/film. Regularly prepared food does not photograph well and I will spare you the photos of the finished product. It will make you not want to try the recipe. Turned out well, Bob has eaten it a couple of times today. If you are interested in the recipe, check out Misty's blog (I am too lazy to type it over!!)...
When I went to Wal-Mart to get the ingredients for the pudding, I walked by the toy dept and they were having a Holiday Toy Dept. launch with free cupcakes and the toy catalogue. I grabbed a catalogue and passed on the cupcake. I got home, unpacked the bags and sat down to look at the book. I was on the first page and Bobby walked by. (You have to know that Bobby has never looked through a toy catalogue or pointed out anything in a book that he would like to have. He doesn't pick toys off of the shelf either. He also does not point to things, it is a skill that he is just now learning).
Bobby stopped, came over to the table and sat down and pulled the book over to him. I got up and started getting things ready for the pudding. He came over to me, sat the book on the countertop, grabbed my finger and pointed it to something on the page. He looked at me, and I was looking back at him in disbelief, and he kept pointing my finger to the picture of the toy. I was laughing and said "go show Daddy." He took the book over to the couch, laid it down and took Bob's finger and pointed to the item. We were both just shocked. He was pointing to a K'nex roller coaster. The same roller coaster that he got last year from Santa.
Bobby and the roller coaster last Christmas.
Bobby watched that thing go all Christmas Day, but it didn't last much past that day. We finally had to take it apart. We have most of the parts, but not all, and since it took Bob 6 hours to put together, it has been in the top of our closet ever since. We would have the worst Santa in the world if Bobby didn't get this treasure again this year. Bob is even excited that we will have two cars to run on the track. Guess that he isn't afraid of 6 hours of building for Bobby's Christmas Day.
I have a feeling that this is going to be our best Christmas ever. Bobby already seems to be more "in tune" to Christmas than ever before!!
I love how honest you are saying that blogging makes you do more things so you'll have things to blog about. :) It's true! I must find out what that is that you're making in the Crock Pot... Is that the carmel part? I've read that you can boil whole cans of condensed milk (or is it evaporated?) and it will turn into dulce de leche or caramel sauce or something. I've never had rice pudding!
ReplyDeleteI watched the girl on "5 ingredient fix" make caramel by boiling condensed milk on the Food Network. The crock pot has the 6 cups of rice, 2 cans of condensed milk and 2 cans of evaporated milk, a cinnamon stick for 3 hours. Bob likes sweet rice dishes but I only like savory rice dishes, so this wasn't my favorite, but Bob liked it.
